Police Region North is the largest region in terms of area. The region consists of the four northernmost counties in Sweden and is organized into four police areas: Jämtland, Norrbotten, Västerbotten, and Västernorrland, which are collectively divided into 12 local police areas. Furthermore, there are three regional units: the operational unit, the intelligence unit, and the investigation unit, a regional office, as well as national departments represented in the region to support police operations.

The positions are for a summer temporary employment period from June to August, starting by agreement. There may be a possibility for extension of hours.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Your main task will be to work in the detention operations, which means that you will handle and meet people who are deprived of their liberty. Many are detained for the purpose of investigating crimes, but it can also involve shorter detentions due to, for example, intoxication. As a detention guard, it is your job to receive these individuals and be their closest contact during their time in detention. Detention monitoring is led by the station commander.

As a detention guard, your tasks mainly involve receiving and monitoring the individuals in the detention department. You will also perform DNA sampling, fingerprinting, urine sampling, searches, record checks, documentation, photography, and report taking. You will also carry out transports to detention hearings. Other tasks may also occur.

The pace of work varies and depends on how many are detained. It can be physically demanding and requires that you are in good health. It also places high demands on professional conduct and an approach characterized by respect for everyone's equal value.

QUALIFICATIONS

This is an opportunity for you who have:

• Been accepted into the police education and have completed at least the first semester at the police academy by the start date of the temporary position, or have a similar and current education combined with experience that the employer deems relevant for the position
• Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing
• Good understanding of the English language and the ability to express yourself well in English
• Driver's license B

It is an advantage if you also have:

• Are a police student
• Current experience of working with detained individuals, such as in correctional services, detention guard, HVB/SIS homes, security guard, or other experience deemed relevant by the employer
• Current work experience in working with and meeting people in vulnerable and/or problematic situations that the employer deems relevant
• Knowledge/skills regarding police data systems such as DAF, RES, lost property, and Durtvå
